I love my new iPod nano. It's Product Red, so that makes me feel a teensy bit better about using such an expensive piece of non-essential equipment. Scratch that -- music, especially my music that I choose to listen to and share, IS essential! There are few times during the day that I'm not listening to music, and during those few times I'm usually antsy, jumpy, or annoyed, and just waiting till I CAN listen to music.

I'm looking for accessories, specifically:
1) a protective sleeve or sock to shield the Nano
2) some way for me to connect it to a radio and let everyone hear it instead of just me

For option (1), when I had an iPod Mini, I just used the Neoprene "inCase" soft shield. It's great, and I'm gonna try to find a similar one for the tiny Nano I now have.

Now option (2) is confusing to me because there are SO MANY choices. You can get adaptor cables, or separate speakers, or FM radio connectors -- it's all too much! I am so confused about which of these is the best choice. All I'm trying to do is plug the Nano in somewhere so that other people can hear my songs, not just me! With the Mini that my sister so sweetly let me use, we had a great little gadget called the "iTrip", which you just plug into your FM radio and it broadcasts the songs just for you and your guests on a certain station.

Right now I have my eye on THIS. At $20 it's affordable for my broke ass, and small and convenient. I don't really wanna lug around huge boxy speakers, especially in my car.

I'd say get a RoadTrip--it's like an iTrip, but it actually connects to your car for charging and it has a detatchable radio thingy so you can hook it up to a computer or somthing with a USB port and hear it on a radio. It's like $100 but it's worth it!

ooh that sounds cool. $100 though? Yikes! I think I'll ask my parents for it for my bday ;)

You're right. There's a ton of those things and it's hard to pick one, especially under $100. I have a PodFreq transmitter for my mini, but there isn't one for the Nano (or "Nano 2" actually).

You could just get a pair of small, powered speakers and a bag to carry them in. As long as they have a miniplug connector (same kind as the iPod earbuds) they'll work.

yeah I thought about speakers, but I'm not so sure the sound quality will be that good! I saw some tiny speakers, but they're all battery-operated, which is a huge annoyance. :(

Hehe, I know! I've just been so busy. I started a new job in May 08, and have been going to school for a Master's. Life has been crazy. How've you been?? :) I really do miss LJ. It's way fun.

I still dabble in LJ. Especially on evenings like this when I'm too tired to focus on a book or even a magazine. I did watch "It's the Great Pumpkin" while eating dinner, though!

University is fun. I never went back for another degree after getting my BA in TV and film. I did take some extension classes afterwards in graphic arts, thinking my job prospects were better. But I ended up in IT for some reason. I work at a school district now and the pay is OK. The people there are pretty fun, so I won't complain.

I'm still buying the occasional DVD box. "Eureka" was the latest I think. I'm reading more, too.

You write well and you can spell too! Not everybody in LJ land can do that. Yeah, sad I know. I remember reading some of your journal posts that were PG-13 and thinking "hmm, someday she might get an R- rating." Well, I can dream, can't I? OK now I'm just rambling.
